YAML to Markdown Converter

Document YAML data as a clean Markdown table — service lists, config matrices, environment overviews — with a free converter that runs completely in your browser. Paste YAML or drop a file, then copy the table into your docs.

YAML

YAML is a human-friendly data format widely used for configuration files in DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI pipelines. It expresses nested structures through indentation instead of brackets.

Markdown

Markdown tables render as clean, readable grids on GitHub, in wikis, and in documentation tools. They are plain text, so they diff well in version control and can be edited in any text editor.

How the YAML to Markdown conversion works

The YAML is parsed locally: each sequence item becomes a table row, nested mappings flatten into dot-notation headers, and aliases resolve to their actual values. Comments are dropped, as tables have no place for them.

The output is a GitHub-flavored table: a header row, the |---| separator, then one row per item, with pipe characters escaped as \| and in-cell line breaks converted to <br> tags.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best YAML shape for a table?
A sequence of mappings with mostly shared keys — each key becomes a column. Items missing a key simply get an empty cell.
Do YAML comments survive?
No. Markdown tables carry data only, so comments are dropped — keep the original YAML if they matter.
How do multi-line YAML strings render?
Line breaks inside a value become <br> tags, which GitHub renders as line breaks within the cell — nothing is silently flattened.
Is the conversion private and free?
Yes on both counts: it runs in a Web Worker on your device, with no upload, no signup, and no watermark.
