CSV to Excel Converter

Create a genuine Excel workbook from any CSV file without uploading it anywhere. Everything runs locally in your browser and is completely free — drop the file or paste raw text, review the first rows, and download a ready-to-open .xlsx.

CSV

CSV is the simplest and most universal tabular data format: one row per line, with values separated by commas, semicolons, or tabs. Every spreadsheet tool, database, and programming language can read and write it.

Excel

XLSX is the default workbook format of Microsoft Excel. It stores typed cells, multiple sheets, and formatting in a compressed container, and is the lingua franca of business reporting and data exchange.

How the CSV to Excel conversion works

Your CSV is parsed locally with automatic delimiter detection (comma, semicolon, or tab) and the first row is treated as headers unless you turn that off. Numbers and booleans are typed during parsing, so quantities and prices arrive in Excel as real numeric cells you can sum and chart — not text.

The writer then builds a single sheet named Sheet1 and estimates each column's width from its content, so the file opens readable instead of showing a wall of truncated cells. The Excel engine is loaded on demand the moment you convert, keeping the page itself fast.

Frequently asked questions

Will my numbers stay numbers in Excel?
Yes. Values that look numeric are typed during parsing and written as native number cells, so SUM, sorting, and charts work immediately without "convert text to number" warnings.
My file is semicolon-separated. Do I need to configure anything?
No — semicolon and tab delimiters are auto-detected. If detection ever guesses wrong, pick the delimiter manually in the options panel and the preview re-parses instantly.
Why is the output a single sheet called Sheet1?
A CSV file has no sheet concept, so the converter writes one clean worksheet with a predictable name. That keeps the output simple to reference from scripts and formulas.
Is there a size limit, and is this private?
Files up to 50 MB are supported, and the conversion is fully private: the workbook is generated inside your browser and never touches a server.
