CSV to Markdown Converter

Paste a CSV export into your README, wiki, or pull request as a proper Markdown table — free, with the whole conversion happening in your browser and nothing uploaded. Drop a file or paste raw text and copy the result in seconds.

CSV

CSV is the simplest and most universal tabular data format: one row per line, with values separated by commas, semicolons, or tabs. Every spreadsheet tool, database, and programming language can read and write it.

Markdown

Markdown tables render as clean, readable grids on GitHub, in wikis, and in documentation tools. They are plain text, so they diff well in version control and can be edited in any text editor.

How the CSV to Markdown conversion works

The parser auto-detects your delimiter (comma, semicolon, or tab) and uses the first row as the table header, followed by the |---|---| separator line GitHub requires.

Every cell is escaped so the table cannot break: pipe characters become \| and line breaks inside cells become <br> tags. Empty cells stay empty, keeping the column grid aligned.

Frequently asked questions

Will commas inside quoted CSV values break the table?
No. The CSV is parsed properly — quoted values with embedded commas, quotes, or newlines arrive intact in their single Markdown cell.
What happens to | characters in my data?
They are escaped as \| automatically. Without that, one stray pipe would split a cell in two; with it, the table renders exactly as your data reads.
Can I convert only part of a large CSV?
The converter processes the whole file, but the 50-row preview lets you check the shape first. For a subset, trim the CSV before converting or delete rows from the Markdown afterwards.
Is this free and private?
Yes. The conversion runs in a Web Worker on your machine — no upload, no account, no watermarks.
