Photo Date Changer
Change the EXIF date on your photos without uploading them anywhere: set an exact new date and time, or shift every selected photo by the same offset to fix a camera that was on the wrong timezone. The rewrite is lossless — pixels are copied byte for byte — and everything happens in your browser, free.

How the photo date changer works
Photos store three EXIF timestamps: when the picture was taken (DateTimeOriginal), when it was digitized, and when the file was last modified. "Set a new date" writes your chosen date and time into all three — that's the field photo apps read when they sort your library. "Shift existing dates" moves each photo's own timestamps by the offset you enter, ±minutes, hours or days, so a whole vacation shot on a mis-set camera clock lands on the correct day while the order of the shots is preserved.
The change is applied by rebuilding only the metadata block: the compressed image data is copied unchanged, so there is no re-compression and no quality loss. Camera model, GPS and the other EXIF fields are carried over as they were; maker notes and the embedded preview thumbnail are dropped, exactly as in our EXIF editor.
Frequently asked questions
- Will changing the date affect photo quality?
- No. Only the metadata block is rewritten — the compressed image data is copied byte for byte, so the pixels are identical to the original.
- Which date does my gallery app actually use?
- Almost all galleries sort by DateTimeOriginal, the "date taken" field. This tool writes your new date to it and to the digitized and modified timestamps, so every app agrees. The file-system dates you see in a file manager are set by your operating system when you save the download.
- Can I fix a whole batch where the camera clock was wrong?
- Yes — that is what shift mode is for. Drop all affected photos, enter the offset (for example +7 hours, or -1 day), and every photo's own timestamps move by exactly that amount, preserving the original order.
- Are my photos uploaded while changing dates?
- Never. Parsing and rewriting run in your browser; the tool is free and works offline once the page is loaded. JPEG files are rewritten losslessly. HEIC, PNG, WebP and other formats are converted to JPG automatically, because that is where the date is stored.
