JSON
JSON is the standard data-interchange format of the web. It stores structured, possibly nested records in human-readable text and is the native format of most modern APIs and configuration files.
Markdown
Markdown tables render as clean, readable grids on GitHub, in wikis, and in documentation tools. They are plain text, so they diff well in version control and can be edited in any text editor.
How the JSON to Markdown conversion works
The converter accepts an array of objects or a single object. Nested structures flatten into dot-notation column headers such as user.address.city, so deep payloads become one flat, scannable table.
Headers form the first Markdown row, followed by the |---| separator, then one row per object. Pipes are escaped as \| and newlines become <br>, so no cell can break the grid on GitHub.
Frequently asked questions
- What happens with objects that have different keys?
- The header row is the union of all keys in first-appearance order; objects missing a key just get an empty cell, so ragged data stays aligned.
- How are arrays inside objects shown?
- Arrays are JSON-encoded into their cell (e.g. ["a","b"]) so nothing is lost, and the table stays two-dimensional.
- Can I keep the nesting instead of dot columns?
- Markdown tables are flat by nature, so nesting has to become either dot-notation columns (default) or JSON text in one cell (untick flattening).
- Does my JSON stay on my machine?
- Yes — parsing and table generation run in a Web Worker in your browser tab. Free, no account, no upload.
