YAML to Excel Converter

Turn YAML data into a real Excel workbook you can filter, sort, and chart — free and entirely in-browser, so config files with internal details never leave your device.

YAML

YAML is a human-friendly data format widely used for configuration files in DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI pipelines. It expresses nested structures through indentation instead of brackets.

Excel

XLSX is the default workbook format of Microsoft Excel. It stores typed cells, multiple sheets, and formatting in a compressed container, and is the lingua franca of business reporting and data exchange.

How the YAML to Excel conversion works

Your YAML sequence is parsed locally; each item becomes a row and nested mappings flatten into dot-notation column headers. Numbers and booleans are written as native Excel cell types, not text.

The workbook is generated with a single Sheet1 and column widths estimated from content, so it opens readable. The Excel writer loads on demand only when you convert, keeping the page itself light.

Frequently asked questions

Will numeric YAML values be real numbers in Excel?
Yes — integers and floats arrive as numeric cells, and true/false as Excel booleans, so SUM and pivot tables work immediately.
How does nesting appear in the sheet?
As dot-notation column headers like spec.template.image. Each nested path is one column; missing paths leave the cell empty.
Can I control the sheet name?
The output is always a single sheet named Sheet1 for predictability; renaming it afterwards in Excel takes a double-click.
Is this suitable for sensitive config files?
Yes — parsing and workbook generation run in a Web Worker on your device with nothing uploaded, and the tool is free.
