YAML to CSV Converter

Flatten YAML lists — inventories, service catalogs, config collections — into spreadsheet-ready CSV without pasting them into a random web service. Free, and the whole conversion runs inside your browser.

YAML

YAML is a human-friendly data format widely used for configuration files in DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI pipelines. It expresses nested structures through indentation instead of brackets.

CSV

CSV is the simplest and most universal tabular data format: one row per line, with values separated by commas, semicolons, or tabs. Every spreadsheet tool, database, and programming language can read and write it.

How the YAML to CSV conversion works

The YAML is parsed with a spec-compliant parser (aliases resolved, comments dropped) and each list item becomes one row. Nested mappings flatten into dot-notation columns like spec.replicas so nothing hides in nested structures.

The header row is the union of all keys in first-appearance order; items missing a key leave an empty cell. Values are quoted only when needed, and the delimiter can be switched to semicolon or tab for regional spreadsheet imports.

Frequently asked questions

What YAML shapes convert cleanly?
A top-level sequence of mappings (one row each), a single mapping (one row), or a sequence of plain values (a single "value" column). Multi-document files should be split first.
How is deep nesting represented in a flat CSV?
Every nested path becomes its own dot-notation column — metadata.labels.app holds that exact nested value. Arrays inside an item are JSON-encoded into their cell.
Are YAML anchors and aliases handled?
Yes, aliases are expanded during parsing, so the CSV contains the resolved values a YAML-aware tool would see.
Where does the conversion run?
In a Web Worker on your machine. No upload, no server, no cost — safe for configs that contain internal names or endpoints.
