YAML
YAML is a human-friendly data format widely used for configuration files in DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI pipelines. It expresses nested structures through indentation instead of brackets.
SQL
SQL INSERT scripts let you load tabular data straight into a relational database such as MySQL or PostgreSQL. Each row becomes part of a batched INSERT statement that you can run in any database client.
How the YAML to SQL conversion works
The YAML sequence is parsed locally and flattened: nested mapping paths become dot-notation column names, quoted per dialect so they remain valid identifiers. Aliases are resolved and comments dropped during parsing.
Values are typed — numbers bare, empty values as NULL, strings escaped with doubled single quotes (plus backslash escaping for MySQL) — and rows are batched into multi-row INSERTs of up to 500 rows per statement.
Frequently asked questions
- What table name is used?
- my_table by default; set your own in the options panel. Whatever you enter is escaped correctly, even names containing quote characters.
- Which SQL dialects are supported?
- MySQL (backtick identifiers, backslash escaping) and ANSI (double-quoted identifiers) — the latter covers PostgreSQL, SQLite, and SQL Server.
- How are nested YAML values inserted?
- Nested paths become their own quoted columns via dot notation; arrays are inserted as JSON strings so no data is silently dropped.
- Is anything sent to a server?
- No — the script is generated in a Web Worker in your browser, free and without an account.
