Excel to SQL Converter

Load spreadsheet data into a database without exporting to CSV first and without uploading anything: this tool turns an Excel sheet into batched SQL INSERT statements entirely in your browser, free of charge.

Excel

XLSX is the default workbook format of Microsoft Excel. It stores typed cells, multiple sheets, and formatting in a compressed container, and is the lingua franca of business reporting and data exchange.

SQL

SQL INSERT scripts let you load tabular data straight into a relational database such as MySQL or PostgreSQL. Each row becomes part of a batched INSERT statement that you can run in any database client.

How the Excel to SQL conversion works

Your .xlsx or .xls workbook is parsed on your device; choose a sheet if there are several. The header row becomes the column list, quoted per dialect — backticks for MySQL, double quotes for ANSI databases like PostgreSQL.

Cell types drive the SQL: numbers stay bare, dates become ISO strings, empty cells become NULL, and text is escaped with doubled single quotes. Rows are grouped into multi-row INSERTs of up to 500 rows for fast execution.

Frequently asked questions

Which sheet gets converted in a multi-sheet workbook?
The first sheet by default — a selector appears when the workbook has more than one, and the preview re-parses as soon as you pick another.
Are values like O'Brien escaped correctly?
Yes: embedded single quotes are doubled per the SQL standard, and the MySQL dialect additionally escapes backslashes, so the script runs cleanly.
Do formulas end up in the SQL?
No — each formula cell contributes its last computed value, which is what you want in a database insert.
Does the spreadsheet leave my machine?
Never. Parsing and script generation happen in a Web Worker in your browser — free, with no account required.
